Fit Guide. I am 5', 105 pounds, 34D,-25-33, and usually wear XS -S tops and XS bottoms.
Petite women over 60: These are three cotton midi dresses that actually fit my 5'0" petite body with absolutely no tailoring required. These dresses not only fit, these dresses also portray a vibe of elegance and grace, something every woman hopes that can depict over the age of 60. The struggle is real for petite women to find a midi or maxi dress that actually fits and you are not smothering in extra fabric. Enjoy wearing one of these great midi dresses at your next summer event. None of these dresses required tailoring, so at 5'0", all were treasures to find for an XS petite woman over 60!
Dress #1 Ann Taylor Petite Midi Baby blue and white vertical striped dress
The Vibe: Sophisticated, Elevated, and Elegant
The Ann Taylor dress with the matching fabric belt is a great choice of midi dresses. With the halter cut arm holes, fitted bodice, and perfect length, you will feel elegant in any group or other social setting when wearing this dress. The halter cut armholes draw the eye up and away from any crepey skin or extra fat you may have on the upper arms. The fitted bodice with the same fabric belt along with the thin vertical stripes give the dress a streamlined, elongating overall appearance. There is just enough drape in the skirt for the dress to move with your body gracefully. I would choose this dress for coastal elegance! It has Coastal Grandmother written all over it!
This dress can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the shoes, jacket/cardigan. purse, or jewelry you choose to wear with it. Keep accessories small and proportionate to your petite body!
Casual Wear
Without a cardigan and paired with sandals or white sneakers and a crossbody bag, this dress will suffice for an outdoor barbecue or hosting your family at home. You can even add a light linen blouse (worn unbuttoned with the sleeves rolled up) for sightseeing or browsing through shops.
Elevated Wear
Pair this dress with a navy or yellow cardigan or light crop jacket that ends right at your waist, gold sandals or heels, and you are all set for indoor events from doctor appointments to visits to museums. If you want to dress it up even further, you can add a colorful scarf, statement earrings, wedge heels, or a small purse.
Dress #2 Amazon Halter Cut Sleeves Midi Dress
Vibe: Elevated, Modern, & Edgy
Depending on how you wear this dress it can be elevated and sophisticated or dressed down to be relaxed and edgy. The dress is fitted at the waist and does not come with a belt. I added a black leather belt for a more fitted and elongated appearance. I prefer belts, so I would wear a belt with it for casual or dressy attire.
Casual Wear
Throw this dress on with a pair of sandals, crossbody bag, and you are all set to browse around shops and have lunch in a casual restaurant. You could even add a denim jacket and some chunky boots in the fall for a boho casual vibe!
Elevated Wear
Pair this dress with lovely jeweled earrings, heels, crop jacket or caridgan and a small purse. You could even use a skinny belt with jewels instead of a plain leather belt. You will be all set for dining out, attending church, or an evening event.
Dress #3 The Dylan Dress by Abercrombie & Fitch
The Vibe: Elevated Casual
The Dylan dress is simply amazing! This curve hugging dress definitely shows shape with absolutely no tailoring needed. The smocked back and dipped waist with just the right amount of drape in the fabric moves gracefully in the wind. The length hits just a few inches above the ankle and is the longest of the three dresses. This dress has a scoop neckline which is great for cups A-C. This dress comes in a model called, "Curve" for cups D-F and has the same fit as the regular Dylan dress, which I should have purchased had I known! Anyhow, it is very flattering, but can be a bit revealing, so I wore a cardigan tied in the front most of the time! I'm looking forward to purchasing the Curve Dress for Fall.
Very Casual
This dress can be worn very casually with sandals or white sneakers for a cook out, outdoor party, or browsing around your favorite shops. Because of the vertical blue stripes, I like to pair it with a straw purse for a coastal vibe.
Elevated
Add a cardigan and heels, you have a dressier version that would serve for an outdoor casual wedding guest dress, bridal shower, or dinner out by the water.
All of these dresses are great summer dresses for XS petite women. They fit very short petite women since I am only 5'0". What an amazing find to obtain three flattering midi-maxi length dresses that require absolutely no tailoring. All three of these dresses portray the vibe of southern elegance and grace!
No matter which dress you choose, keep your accessories small and in proportion to your petite body. In the area of jewelry, choose tiny hoops with crystals, diamond posts, or very small dangling earrings and/or a small pendent necklace. Shoes should expose the feet as much as possible to complete the elongating appearance. Gold or nude sandals are an excellent choice. Thong sandals or thong wedges work really well with all of these dress! If you want to make it very casual, you could even wear a slender white sneaker with any of them. Keep purses or crossbody bags very small. Personally, I prefer a small purse with these dresses.
