Vacations spent at St. Simons Island, Ga. are a treasure. Having lived on St. Simons Island for over 20+ years, I always enjoy visiting the island, now that I have moved away. Summers are hot on Saint Simons Island, but the cool ocean breezes and the shade from the massive oak trees provide opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities on most days. Packing for a vacation on the island, especially during the summer should include light fabrics with pops of color to match the vibe of the island lifestyle. Plan for some cool mornings and evenings even during the summer since the temperature can fluctuate from 15- 25 degrees on some days. In addition, pop-up showers in the afternoon occur often.

Days are spent exploring the island by bike or walking, so I pack clothing that is thin and repels moisture. Athletic wear and very casual wear (T-shirts and shorts ) are always a good option for biking, jogging, boating/sailing, and exploring the island. Since St. Simons Island is a very laid back island, athletic wear is appropriate to wear to most shops on the island.
If you enjoy biking, I recommend wearing a helmet and keep an eye out on cars pulling out from parking lots, condos, etc as the sidewalks cross all of these. My husband, Doug, and I enjoy wearing communication helmets, so we can let each other know about oncoming traffic on the sidewalks and/or cars crossing the sidewalk.

Dressy short sets, skirt sets, and casual dresses are appropriate for shopping and dining at restaurants for breakfast and lunch. Have fun with color and crisp, white outfits for enjoying island life on this little island on the coast of south Georgia; tropical attire is also appropriate on St. Simons Island, Ga.

Swimsuits and cover-ups are a must on your next visit to St. Simons Island, Ga. You will want to relax on the beautiful beaches where you can often spot dolphins jumping in the water out in the distance. The coastal breezes may keep you cool, so bring plenty of sunscreen because even if you don't feel hot, the sun is very strong and you will be glad you have the sunscreen protection.
If you have the opportunity to visit Jekyll Island, Ga which is the next island over from St. Simons Island, Ga. in the evening or venture out for a casual evening on St. Simons Island, Ga, you will appreciate wearing a pair of crisp white jeans and a colorful popover.

Relax at your rental in a casual dress with your favorite colorful popover for crisp mornings or evenings.

As casual and laid back the lifestyle is on St. Simons Island, you will want to pack some casual-dressy pant sets and/or dresses to enjoy fine dining at some of the exquisite restaurants, attending church, or special special events.

A trip to St. Simons Island, Ga. should always include cool, comfortable sandals and sneakers along with a great sun hat! Top it all off with your favorite accessories, but remember to keep those accessories proportionate to your body.
