Fit Guide: I am 5', 105 pounds. I usually wear XS-S top and XS bottoms.

With a hint of summer in the air, especially in the south as temperatures crept up to the low 90's this week in south Georgia, it is time to stock up on petite spring/summer shorts for all occasions. I have you covered with some of the best selections of shorts for petites that have just the right length to elongate those short legs. At just barely over 5', I understand how difficult it can be to find shorts that accentuate legs instead of shortening them. Also, for women over 50, or in my case over 60, shorts that are too short are simply not flattering whether you have a little extra jiggle or not. Shorts for petite women look best at the inseam of 3.5"-5". Let's check out these nice petite spring/summer shorts over 60.

A great pair of shorts will carry the southern chic woman through the hottest days. Pair with a nice pair of sandals, wedges, or sneakers and you will be set for running your errands looking polished and cool.

These Amazon Jamfit Shorts are one of my most comfortable shorts I wear because of their stretchy waistband and the way they hug curves! They come in a variety of colors and I have the navy, white, khaki, light green, and baby blue, too. These red shorts are my newest addition of Jamfit and they were loved on the 4th of July, but I know I will get much wear out of them. They look especially polished when paired with a sleeveless collared top and a black or navy striped cardigan thrown over the top. (Links below).

Shorts from Lily Pulitzer are some of the most polished, elegant shorts for petite women over 60. The fabric is amazing and feels luxurious, but also keeps you cool in the summer.

These scalloped premium linen shorts from Abercrombie & Fitch look stylish and chic for summer!

These Amazon Jam-fit Chino shorts are so comfortable with a stretchy waistband and flatter your curves! They come in XS short and XS regular. I chose the XS regular for the 4" inseam. In addition, they are lined for additional coverage. They are great for dress shorts paired with sandals or wedges. Pair with sandals, flip-flops, or your favorite sneakers for casual wear. I bought these shorts in navy and white.

Many of the Jamfit Shorts are sold out in XS and S; these Amazon HDE shorts in S are slightly large, but I like white shorts to fit a little large. They are lined, have the stretchy waisband, and wash well.

Spanx offers some great pull-on shorts that actually have a tailored look with belt loops. With the breathable fabric, these shorts will keep you cool while shopping, getting in and out of hot cars, and chasing those grand kiddos around the park. The inseam of 5" provides good coverage to feel comfortable in any atmosphere. In sizes XS-3X, these are great for petite women over 60.

For those active days of playing pickle ball or entertaining the grandchildren, you will love the stylish, pleated skort offered by Amazon. I finally learned to play pickle ball, but have enjoyed this skort for running errands and sailing. You will love the stylish pleats from behind and they look very comparative to some of the expensive name brands of sportswear. They come in many awesome colors too!

Ann Taylor has a great collection of shorts for petite women. The Ann Taylor City Shorts with a 4" inseam are a great length for petite women. I have these shorts in navy, white, and khaki. Paired with a crop linen blouse, they look polished and elevated worn with sandals or sneakers for exploring on a hot day!

These Gap Linen Shorts with a 3.5” inseam will elongate your legs! Bonus- you can buy an assortment of matching linen tops from sleeveless to long sleeve in the same color that will provide you with a streamlined, elongating overall appearance, especially when worn with nude or neutral shoes. I prefer 4"-5" shorts as I am aging gracefully, but these linen sets are definitely elongating to a petite frame.

JCrew also has a nice selection of linen shorts with belt loops, too! The J Crew linen shorts also have matching tops you can purchase separately to create an elegant short outfit, perfect for a hot summer outdoor event!

By the age of 50 and 60, we are all pass the ‘daisy duke’ shorts stage, but there is a time and place for a little ‘fray’ in your life even if your shorts are longer than what you once wore. I love these Levi 501 shorts that come in a variety of inseams and are perfect for hiking on a hot day!

Alright, coastal grandmothers, shed those linen long sleeve tops and pants! Stay cool in these shorts and skorts for the summer because the heat is coming!

Petite women over 60, what is your favorite inseam for shorts? Do you prefer the 4" inseam or do you lend more towards the 5-6" inseam?
