Hemming petite jeans is one of the easiest ways to look instantly put‑together, no matter your age or budget. In this guide, I’ll walk you through simple, step‑by‑step hemming tips made for petite women over 60—so your jeans hit at the perfect spot, flatter your shape, and feel comfortable all day. I enjoy wearing my new white jeans with Amazon Michael Kors Wedge Sandals or Amazon Guess Kadlin Sneakers ( with built in heel lifts).

Items you will need:

Thread ( same color as pants or jeans) or Amazon Singer Nylon Thread (for white or light colored jeans)

Pins

Measuring tape

Try on jeans with shoes

Try on jeans with the shoes you plan to wear with jeans. I enjoying wearing 2.5” wedge sandals or sneakers with low heel lifts. I try on both types of shoes to find a length that will hopefully work for either shoe so, I have flexibility in choosing dressy or casual jean outfits.

Make sure your pinned area is close to the bottom because you will measure, mark,

and cut off the excess bottom before sewing the very bottom ( previously hemmed portion) to the cut pants.

Place the previously hemmed portion over the outside of the pants. You will start hemming just under the previously hemmed portion so your stitches do not show(see pin).

Just a few thoughts that may make your experience hemming pants easy. Mark a straight line after you measure to help you cut straight. Use very sharp scissors made for cutting fabric. Use strong thread, even a clear nylon thread works great on white jeans!

I hope you find this to be an easy hack for hemming your new jeans. Do you have a special trick for hemming pants?
